West Bengal Itinerary – Must visit places & things to do

Day 1: Kolkata

Start your 10-day tour of West Bengal with a visit to the City of Joy, Kolkata. Begin your day with a visit to the iconic Victoria Memorial, a grand marble building that stands as a reminder of the British Raj. After that, take a stroll through the bustling streets of Kolkata and explore the city’s many attractions such as the Indian Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Marble Palace. In the evening, take a boat ride on the Hooghly River and enjoy the sunset. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Kolkata.

Day 2: Sunderbans National Park

On day two, head to Sunderbans National Park, located in the delta of the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a variety of wildlife including tigers, crocodiles, and dolphins. Take a boat ride through the mangrove forests and spot some of these animals in their natural habitat. Stay overnight at one of the resorts near Sunderbans National Park.

Day 3: Bishnupur

On day three, drive to Bishnupur, a small town in Bankura district known for its terracotta temples and terracotta artworks. Visit some of the famous temples such as Madan Mohan Temple, Rasmancha Temple, and Jor Bangla Temple. In the evening, explore the local markets and shop for some traditional handicrafts. Stay overnight at one of the hotels in Bishnupur.

Day 4: Digha

On day four, drive to Digha, a popular beach destination located on the Bay of Bengal. Spend your day relaxing on the beach or take a stroll along the shoreline. In the evening, enjoy some delicious seafood at one of the local restaurants. Stay overnight at one of the beach resorts in Digha.

Day 5: Mandarmani

On day five, drive to Mandarmani, another popular beach destination located on the Bay of Bengal. Spend your day relaxing on the beach or take a stroll along the shoreline. In the evening, enjoy some delicious seafood at one of the local restaurants. Stay overnight at one of the beach resorts in Mandarmani.

Day 6: Darjeeling

On day six, drive to Darjeeling, a hill station located in West Bengal’s Himalayan foothills. Spend your day exploring some of Darjeeling’s attractions such as Tiger Hill, Batasia Loop, and Ghoom Monastery. In the evening, take a ride on the famous Toy Train and enjoy stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga. Stay overnight at one of the hotels in Darjeeling.

Day 7: Kalimpong

On day seven, drive to Kalimpong, another hill station located in West Bengal’s Himalayan foothills. Spend your day exploring some of Kalimpong’s attractions such as Durpin Dara Hill, Deolo Hill, and Tharpa Choling Monastery. In the evening, take a stroll through Kalimpong’s bustling markets and shop for some local handicrafts. Stay overnight at one of the hotels in Kalimpong.

Day 8: Mirik

On day eight, drive to Mirik, another hill station located in West Bengal’s Himalayan foothills. Spend your day exploring some of Mirik’s attractions such as Sumendu Lake and Mirik Monastery. In the evening, take a boat ride on Sumendu Lake and enjoy stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga. Stay overnight at one of the hotels in Mirik.

Day 9: Siliguri

On your last day in West Bengal, drive back to Siliguri where you can explore some attractions such as ISKCON Temple and Salugara Monastery before heading back home with wonderful memories from your trip! Stay overnight at one of Siliguri’s hotels before heading back home!
