Kerala vacation Itinerary – Places to Visit in Kerala

Day 1: Arrive in Kochi

On your first day, arrive in Kochi, the commercial capital of Kerala. Kochi is a vibrant city with a mix of old and new. Spend the day exploring the city’s attractions such as the Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, and the Chinese Fishing Nets. In the evening, take a stroll along the Marine Drive and enjoy the sunset. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Kochi.

Day 2: Kochi to Munnar

On day two, drive to Munnar, a hill station located in the Western Ghats. On your way, you can stop at Cheeyappara Waterfalls and Valara Waterfalls for some breathtaking views. Once you reach Munnar, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the tea plantations and other attractions such as Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, and Anamudi Peak. Stay overnight at one of the many resorts in Munnar.

Day 3: Munnar Sightseeing

Spend day three exploring Munnar’s attractions such as Top Station, Blossom Park, Tea Museum, and Echo Point. You can also take a boat ride on Kundala Lake or go for a trek to Meesapulimala. In the evening, visit one of the local markets for some shopping. Stay overnight at your hotel in Munnar.

Day 4: Munnar to Thekkady

On day four, drive to Thekkady, a wildlife sanctuary located in Idukki district. On your way, you can stop at Attukal Waterfalls and Chellarkovil Viewpoint for some stunning views. Once you reach Thekkady, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and its attractions such as Periyar Lake, Elephant Junction, and Spice Plantation Tour. Stay overnight at one of the many resorts in Thekkady.

Day 5: Thekkady Sightseeing

Spend day five exploring Thekkady’s attractions such as Murikkady Viewpoint, Kadathanadan Kalari Centre, Kumily Spice Market, and Periyar Tiger Reserve. You can also take a boat ride on Periyar Lake or go for an elephant ride at Elephant Junction. In the evening, visit one of the local markets for some shopping. Stay overnight at your hotel in Thekkady.

Day 6: Thekkady to Alleppey

On day six, drive to Alleppey, a beautiful backwater destination located on the banks of Vembanad Lake. On your way, you can stop at Kuttanadu Viewpoint for some stunning views. Once you reach Alleppey, check into your houseboat and spend the rest of the day cruising through the backwaters and exploring its attractions such as Pathiramanal Island and Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Stay overnight on board your houseboat in Alleppey.

Day 7: Alleppey to Kovalam

On day seven, drive to Kovalam, a beach town located on the Arabian Sea coast. On your way, you can stop at Varkala Beach for some stunning views. Once you reach Kovalam, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring its attractions such as Lighthouse Beach, Hawa Beach, Samudra Beach, and Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium. Stay overnight at one of the many resorts in Kovalam.

Day 8: Kovalam Sightseeing

Kovalam is known for its pristine beaches and Ayurvedic treatments so spend day eight exploring its attractions such as Padmanabhapuram Palace and Neyyar Dam Wildlife Sanctuary. You can also take a boat ride on Varkala Beach or go for an Ayurvedic massage at one of the local spas. In the evening, visit one of the local markets for some shopping. Stay overnight at your hotel in Kovalam.

Day 9: Kovalam to Trivandrum

On day nine, drive to Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), Kerala’s capital city located on the Arabian Sea coast. On your way, you can stop at Ponmudi Hill Station for some stunning views. Once you reach Trivandrum, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring its attractions such as Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Napier Museum & Zoo, Kanakakunnu Palace & Gardens, and Sree Chitra Art Gallery & Museum. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Trivandrum.

Day 10: Departure

On your last day in Kerala, explore Trivandrum’s attractions such as Shangumugham Beach and Veli Tourist Village before heading to Trivandrum International Airport for your flight back home with wonderful memories from Kerala!
