Day 1: Guwahati
Start your 10-day Assam tour by arriving in Guwahati, the largest city in the state. After checking into your hotel, head out to explore the city. Visit the Kamakhya Temple, a revered Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya. Then, take a stroll through the Assam State Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from the region’s history. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the Brahmaputra River and take in the stunning views of the city skyline. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Guwahati.
Day 2: Majuli Island
On day two, take a ferry ride to Majuli Island, located in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. This is one of the largest river islands in the world and is home to many tribal communities. Spend some time exploring the island’s villages and interacting with its friendly locals. You can also visit some of its ancient Hindu temples and monasteries. Stay overnight at one of the many guesthouses on Majuli Island.
Day 3: Jorhat
On day three, drive to Jorhat, located about two hours away from Majuli Island. This is one of Assam’s oldest cities and is known for its tea plantations. Visit some of these plantations and learn about how tea is processed and packaged for sale. You can also visit some of Jorhat’s historical sites such as the Raja Maidam, a royal burial ground built in 1751. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Jorhat.
Day 4: Sivasagar
On day four, drive to Sivasagar, located about two hours away from Jorhat. This city was once the capital of the Ahom kingdom and is home to many historical sites such as Rang Ghar, a royal amphitheater built in 1746. You can also visit some of Sivasagar’s temples such as Shiva Dol and Vishnu Dol. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Sivasagar.
Day 5: Tezpur
On day five, drive to Tezpur, located about two hours away from Sivasagar. This city is known for its archaeological sites such as Agnigarh Hill and Bamuni Hills. You can also visit some of Tezpur’s temples such as Mahabhairav Temple and Ugratara Temple. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Tezpur.
Day 6: Kaziranga National Park
On day six, drive to Kaziranga National Park, located about four hours away from Tezpur. This park is home to two-thirds of the world’s population of one-horned rhinoceroses and is also home to many other species such as tigers, elephants, wild buffalo and swamp deer. Spend some time exploring this park on an elephant or jeep safari and take in its stunning views. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels near Kaziranga National Park.
Day 7: Nameri National Park
On day seven, drive to Nameri National Park, located about three hours away from Kaziranga National Park. This park is home to many species such as tigers, elephants, leopards and sloth bears. Spend some time exploring this park on a nature walk or a rafting trip down its rivers. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels near Nameri National Park.
Day 8: Dibrugarh
On day eight, drive to Dibrugarh, located about four hours away from Nameri National Park. This city is known for its tea plantations and you can visit some of these plantations to learn more about how tea is processed and packaged for sale. You can also visit some of Dibrugarh’s historical sites such as Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary and Joypur Tea Estate Museum. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Dibrugarh.
Day 9: Digboi
On day nine, drive to Digboi, located about two hours away from Dibrugarh. This town is known for its oil refineries and you can visit some of these refineries to learn more about how oil is processed and packaged for sale. You can also visit some of Digboi’s historical sites such as Digboi War Cemetery and Digboi Oil Museum. Stay overnight at one of the many hotels in Digboi.
Day 10: Guwahati
On day ten, drive back to Guwahati where you started your Assam tour 10 days ago! Spend some time exploring this vibrant city before heading back home with lots of memories!
